Our partnership with Save the Children

Novo Nordisk's commitment to making a difference goes beyond growth hormone.
We continuously strive to conduct our activities in a financially, environmentally, and socially responsible way. That is why we have entered a partnership with Save the Children, with the aim of promoting education in developing countries through our joint efforts.
Save the Children has more than 80 years of on-the-ground experience in assisting children affected by conflict. Its Rewrite the Future campaign is focused on securing quality education for the millions of children missing school due to war and armed conflict.
Angola 2006
In Angola, our contributions from 2006 helped to build a school in an area that had been without any for more than 30 years. The new facility has 6 teachers who educate 180 children from ages 5 to 17 in three classrooms.
Cambodia 2007
Our 2007 contribution helped build a school in Cambodia, one of the poorest countries in South East Asia. The new educational facility was completed in late summer 2008, and gives 220 children from surrounding villages hope of a better future.
Sierra Leone 2008
In 2008, our contributions supported the rebuilding of two schools in Sierra Leone, while also providing furniture and assisting the distribution of educational materials.
Ethiopia 2009
In 2009, the contributions from Novo Nordisk helped fund the construction of extensions to school buildings in the Amhara region of Ethiopia. The new facilities will give 300 children in a rural area access to good quality primary education by 2012.
Somaliland 2010
Our 2010 project supports 2 primary schools in Somaliland. Activities include renovating, expanding and furnishing classrooms for 400 children.
Myanmar 2011
In October 2010, Cyclone Giri hit the city of Kyauphyu and the surrounding areas, destroying over 20,000 houses and damaging 400 schools.
The 2011 project is helping to get nearly 240 children back to school in two villages by repairing and rehabilitating their damaged schools.
