Our partnership with Save the Children
- Promoting children’s education in developing countries
Novo Nordisk's commitment to making a difference goes beyond growth hormone.
We continuously strive to conduct our activities in a financially, environmentally, and socially responsible way. That is why we have entered a partnership with Save the Children, with the aim of promoting education in developing countries through our joint efforts.
Save the Children has more than 80 years of on-the-ground experience in assisting children affected by conflict. Its Rewrite the Future campaign is focused on securing quality education for the millions of children missing school due to war and armed conflict.
Angola
In Angola, our contributions from 2006 have helped to build a school in an area that has been without any for more than 30 years. The new facility has 6 teachers who educate 180 children from ages 5 to 17 in three classrooms.
Cambodia
Our 2007 contribution helped build a school in Cambodia, one of the poorest countries in South East Asia. The new educational facility was completed in late summer 2008, and gives 220 children from surrounding villages hope of a better future.
Sierra Leone
In 2008, our contributions are supporting the rebuilding of two schools in Sierra Leone, while also providing furniture and assisting the distribution of educational materials.
Our 2009 Project: Ethiopia
This year’s contributions from Novo Nordisk will help fund the construction of extensions to school buildings in the Amhara region of Ethiopia. When completed, the new facilities will give 300 children in a rural area access to good quality primary education by 2012.
