Novo Nordisk again tops Dow Jones’ sustainability indexes

For the third consecutive year, Novo Nordisk is included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Indexes (DJSI World) and Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Indexes (DJSI STOXX). In the 2004 Annual Review, effective from 20 September 2004, the company maintains its position as the leader in the Pharmaceuticals Industry Group.
The score reflects the company’s performance across economic, environmental, and social criteria compared to the industry average. Novo Nordisk’s total score is 78% as compared with the industry average of 51%.

The analysts gave Novo Nordisk top marks – i.e. 100% score - for its strategic planning, product recall management, environmental & social reporting, and animal testing.
On the economic dimension, measurement systems and risk management scored particularly high, showing that Novo Nordisk has a good structure for dealing with risks.
On the social dimension, knowledge management, standards for suppliers, bioethics, and research & development were rated particularly high.
Finally, on the environmental dimension, the company scored high on its advanced environmental management system.
