Novo Nordisk wins EAA award
- August 1999
Novo Nordisk does it again! For the past three years, the European Accountants' Association has awarded a prize for the Best Environmental Report of the year, and Novo Nordisk's Environment and Bioethics Report has won it every time.
The award is not given for the company' s environmental performance in itself, but rather for the reporting and information provided about its environmental work. One of the Danish members of the jury, Preben J. Sørensen, state-authorised public accountant, praised the 50-page Environment and Bioethics Report for being "open and honest, particularly because it also contains information about 'poor' environmental performance and controversial areas. For example, very few companies give such a detailed accounting of their activities in areas like biotechnology and animal testing."
"I am proud to accept this award on behalf of Novo Nordisk," said Henrik Gürtler, Corporate Executive Vice President, in his speech thanking the association for the prize in London on 5 March. "At Novo Nordisk, we think that it is crucial to our business to communicate openly and honestly about biotechnological and bioethical aspects of our research areas. The Environment and Bioethics Report is an expression of our efforts to document that Novo Nordisk is a responsible company."
