World Diabetes Foundation
The World Diabetes Foundation was launched on 13 November 2001, in conjunction with World Diabetes Day. The working basis is a donation from Novo Nordisk of DKK 500 million targeted at providing sustainable care in developing countries.
The World Diabetes Foundation is dedicated to supporting prevention and treatment of diabetes in developing countries, where the focus is on the following areas:
• Awareness of diabetes
• Prevention of diabetes and its complications
• Education and training of patients and health care professionals
• Enhancement of detection, treatment and monitoring of diabetes
WDF act as a catalyst to build relations among different stakeholders such as governments, diabetes organisations, hospitals and authorities to ensure continued existence of initiatives after the completion of the World Diabetes Foundation funded projects. Principal Voices
In 2005, some of the world’s leading media - CNN, TIME and FORTUNE – were discussing, developing and sharing solutions concerning the big issues confronting global economy. The name of the project was called Principal Voices.
As a Principal Voice, Lars Rebien Sørensen has been asked to address the challenges and opportunities presented by economic development.
